The East Yorkshire Regiment

East Yorkshire Regiment cap badge of WW1Welcome to the East Yorkshire Regiment database. While there are many web sites providing a history of the regiment; this site is dedicated to the memory of the men who served, many of who paid the ultimate price by giving up their lives. You can help us to honour their service to our country by sharing your family memories, photographs and documents. We don't want your original document, they are your personal and family heritage. All we ask is that you share a copy of your photographs and documents with us so that we can display them on this site and share them with others.

If you do have original documents that you wish to dispose of, please let us offer our support and advice. Depositing trophies, medals, documents and photographs with military, and civilian, archives is not always as straightforward as it may seem. We have heard many horror stories over the years.

1941- The Hull Blitz - 2011

Join us at the Carnegie Heritage Centre (Next to West Park Gates on Anlaby Road) on the 7th and 8th May 2011 between 10am and 4pm for the 70th Anniversary exhibition of the Hull Blitz. As well as an exhibition of Hull Blitz memorabilia and photographs, the Heroes of Hull web team have arranged an RAF BBMF Spitfire Flypast on Saturday 7th.

Bring in your wartime memorabilia, documents and photographs and we will scan them to add to the Carnegie archive of Hull. Your memories are our children's heritage. Any period photographs are welcome, be they images of war or just people going about their daily business. All will be returned to you on the day.

VERY IMORTANT

We are still getting dozens of letters and help requests by mail that do not include a stamped, self-addressed, return envelope or a donation. We are extremely sorry but we are simply unable to reply unless you provide the means for us to do so. Funding for all of the Yorkshire Heroes sites comes out of our own pockets - not the council, government, H.M. Forces or anywhere else for that matter.
